Terms of Service

Effective September 24, 2026 · Techoclaro LLC

Draft pending attorney review. This text may change before it is final; we will post the new version here with a new effective date.

The rules for using Techoclaro. Techoclaro is a self-help tool, not a law firm: it does not give legal advice and cannot promise any result.

1. 1. About these Terms

These Terms of Service (the “Terms”) are an agreement between you and Techoclaro LLC, a Texas limited liability company, located at 1341 W. Mockingbird Lane, Dallas, TX 75247 (“Techoclaro,” “we,” “us”). They cover the website at www.techoclaro.com, our apps, and everything we offer through them (together, the “Service”).

By creating an account, signing in, or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

Some parts of the Service have extra rules. Those rules are part of these Terms when they apply to you:

If these Terms and one of those documents say different things about the same subject, the more specific document controls for that subject.

2. 2. Who can use Techoclaro

You must be at least 18 years old and able to make a binding agreement to create an account or buy anything on the Service.

The Service is made for people and organizations in the United States. Our information covers U.S. law (all 50 states and the District of Columbia), with the deepest coverage in Texas.

If you use the Service for a company or organization, you confirm that you are allowed to accept these Terms for it, and “you” also means that organization.

You may not use the Service if we have closed your account for breaking these Terms, or if the law does not allow you to use it.

3. 3. What Techoclaro is

Techoclaro is a free, bilingual (English and Spanish) self-help workbench for homeowners dealing with foreclosure, property tax sales, HOA problems, debt, bankruptcy questions and credit report problems.

The Service helps you:

  • read the letters and papers you received and see the dates in them;
  • see the laws, rules and court decisions behind a date or a finding, with their sources;
  • organize your own case, your deadlines and your notes;
  • prepare letters and documents that you review, approve and decide whether to send;
  • find free help, such as legal aid offices and HUD-approved housing counselors; and
  • put together a case file you can hand to a lawyer.

You make every decision about your case. The Service gives you information and tools; it does not act for you unless you clearly tell it to (for example, when you approve a letter for us to mail).

4. 4. What Techoclaro is not

Techoclaro is not a law firm and is not a substitute for the advice of an attorney. (See Texas Government Code § 81.101(c) and our Not a Law Firm notice.)

  • No legal, financial or tax advice. Everything on the Service is general information and self-help tools. It is not legal advice, financial advice, tax advice or accounting advice, even when it uses facts from your own papers.
  • No attorney-client relationship. Using the Service, sending us a message, or sharing your case does not make Techoclaro your lawyer. Nothing you tell us is protected by attorney-client privilege because of your use of the Service.
  • We do not represent you. We do not appear in court for you, negotiate with your lender, servicer, taxing unit, HOA or debt collector for you, or speak for you. We never contact your lender or servicer for you unless you direct a specific action yourself, such as approving a letter for us to mail.
  • We are not the government, your lender or your servicer. Techoclaro is not affiliated with, approved by or acting for any government agency, court, taxing unit, lender or loan servicer.
  • Not a bankruptcy petition preparer. Our bankruptcy and debt content is education only. We do not prepare bankruptcy petitions or other bankruptcy documents for filing, and we do not act as a “bankruptcy petition preparer” under 11 U.S.C. § 110.
  • Not a credit repair company for our free tools. Our free Credit Health tools help you understand your own report and use your own legal rights. The paid Credit Health add-on is covered by its own written agreement (see section 15).

If you are a PRO organization, the licensed professionals in your organization — not Techoclaro — are responsible for any advice they give. See the PRO Organization Terms.

Laws change and every case is different. Before you rely on a date or a rule, check it against its source and your own papers, and talk to a lawyer licensed in your state, a legal aid office or a HUD-approved housing counselor.

5. 5. No promised results

No one can promise how your case will turn out, and we do not. We do not promise that a foreclosure sale will be stopped or delayed, that you will get a loan modification or any other relief, that you will keep your home, that a debt will be reduced or dismissed, or that anything on your credit report will change.

When the Service shows an estimate, a “factor fit,” a confidence level or a published figure about other people’s cases, it is not a prediction of your case and not a promise.

No fee on Techoclaro depends on the result of your case. You pay for tools and services, never for an outcome. We do not charge any fee for mortgage assistance relief before you have received it, and we do not ask you to stop talking to your lender or servicer. For more, read our Mortgage Assistance Disclosure.

You may stop using the Service at any time. If you decide not to use a paid feature, you can cancel it as described in these Terms.

6. 6. Your account and sign-in

Many tools work without an account. To save a case, upload papers or buy anything, you need an account.

You can sign in with:

  • a passkey that uses your device’s screen lock (fingerprint, face or PIN);
  • a one-time link we send to your email; or
  • a one-time code we send by text message to your phone, where offered. Text messages are covered by our SMS Terms.

Please give us true, current information and keep your email and phone number up to date. You are responsible for what happens in your account. Keep your devices, email and phone secure, and do not share your sign-in links or codes with anyone.

An account is for one person. If someone else needs to help with your case — a family member, a lawyer or a housing counselor — invite them from your case instead of sharing your sign-in. You can see and revoke every permission you give from your account page.

If you think someone got into your account, tell us right away at privacy@techoclaro.com.

7. 7. Your papers and information

“Your Content” means what you put into the Service: the letters and documents you upload, photos, the answers you give, your notes, and the letters you create.

You keep ownership of Your Content. You give us a limited permission (a non-exclusive, royalty-free license) to store, copy, process, display and transmit Your Content only as needed to run the Service for you — for example, to read your papers, find your dates, build your letters and case file, mail a letter you approved, and share your case with the people you invite. This includes sending it to the service providers we use to do those things (see section 19).

This permission ends when Your Content is deleted from the Service, except for copies we must keep by law, for security, or as described in our Data Retention policy. Some records, such as consent and audit records, are kept on purpose so that no one can quietly change your history.

We do not sell your documents. How we collect, use and share personal information is explained in our Privacy Policy.

You confirm that you have the right to upload Your Content and that it does not break the law or anyone else’s rights. Only upload other people’s information when you have a proper reason to, such as a letter addressed to you and a co-borrower.

You can download a full export of your account from your account page.

8. 8. Using the Service fairly

You agree to follow our Acceptable Use Policy. In short: use the Service for your own situation (or with the permission of the person you are helping), be honest in the letters and documents you create, respect other people’s privacy, do not try to break or overload the Service, and never use it to take advantage of homeowners in trouble.

We may remove content or limit access when we reasonably believe the Acceptable Use Policy has been broken.

9. 9. The free plan

The free plan does not expire and does not ask for a card. It includes the tools described on our pricing page, such as reading your papers, your deadlines, findings in plain words, key letters, state guides and free-help listings.

We may change what the free plan includes, but we will not start charging you for something without asking you first.

Some actions cost us real money to do for you — for example, printing and mailing a letter. Those are never charged without your approval of the price first (see section 17).

11. 11. Automatic renewal and how to cancel

Paid plans renew automatically every month at the then-current price until you cancel. By buying a plan, you authorize us (through Stripe) to charge your card at the start of each monthly period until you cancel.

How to cancel: open your Billing page and choose “Manage payment methods.” You can cancel there at any time, online, without calling anyone. You can also email us at privacy@techoclaro.com and we will cancel for you.

When you cancel, your plan does not renew. You keep the plan’s features until the end of the monthly period you already paid for, and then your account returns to the free plan. Your cases, papers and letters stay in your account.

[Owner to confirm: that the Stripe Customer Portal is set to cancel “at end of period,” as recommended in the Stripe setup guide.]

12. 12. Refunds

Our Refund Policy explains refunds in full. The main points:

  • Plans: if a paid plan is not right for you, ask for a full refund within 14 days of the charge, no questions asked. [Owner to confirm: whether the 14-day refund applies to every monthly charge or only to the first charge for a plan.]
  • Letters mailed for you: once a letter has been printed and handed to the mail service, its postage and printing cost has been spent. We refund a letter charge if the letter was not mailed, or if it was sent wrongly because of our mistake.
  • Credit Health add-on: nothing is ever charged in advance, and nothing is charged if you cancel within the cancellation window (see section 15).
  • Refunds go back to the original payment method. Your bank may take several days to show them.

To ask for a refund, email privacy@techoclaro.com from the email on your account.

Nothing in this section limits any refund right you have under the law.

13. 13. Free access, promo codes and referrals

We may give free access to a plan — for example, through a promo code, a verified referral from a legal aid organization or HUD-approved housing counselor, or an arrangement with a nonprofit.

  • A promo code gives access to a plan or PRO package for a set number of days. It has no cash value, cannot be sold, and cannot be combined in a way that ends a plan you are paying for.
  • When free access ends, your account goes back to the free plan on its own. Nothing is charged when free access ends.
  • We may end a code or free access that was obtained by mistake, fraud or misuse.

Some people and organizations share links to Techoclaro through our partner program. A partner may earn a commission if you later buy a paid plan. Partners are never paid for free sign-ups or for the outcome of anyone’s case, and the free plan stays free.

14. 14. Taxes

Prices do not include sales tax or similar taxes unless we say so. Where the law requires it, we will add the tax to your invoice as a separate line.

15. 15. Credit Health tools and the paid add-on

The free Credit Health tools let you upload your own credit report (for example, your free report from AnnualCreditReport.com), see items that may be reported wrongly or for too long, read the law behind each one, and write and track your own dispute and collection letters. We only prepare disputes for items you tell us are wrong. You can print and mail every letter yourself for free.

You always have the right to dispute inaccurate information in your credit report yourself, directly with the credit bureaus, at no cost. Accurate, timely information can stay on your report, and no one can lawfully promise to remove it.

The paid Credit Health add-on is optional and is sold only under a separate written agreement that you read and accept on your Billing page, together with the Credit Services Disclosure. Its key terms:

  • No advance fees. Nothing is charged before the work is done. The add-on is charged only after a month ends, and only if at least one piece of work was completed for you that month. A month with no completed work costs $0, and your ledger shows the $0 line.
  • Three-business-day right to cancel. You may cancel for any reason, without penalty or charge, until the end of the third business day after the day you accept the agreement. Cancel from your Billing page with one button. No work is billed from inside that window.
  • Stop any time. After the window you can stop the add-on at any time. Nothing is billed for any month after you stop.
  • No promised results. We cannot promise any change to your credit report or score.

The add-on price is shown in the agreement before you accept it. If the written agreement and these Terms differ about the add-on, the written agreement controls.

[Attorney to decide: the states in which the paid add-on may be offered (including state credit-services registration, bond and contract-term rules, such as Texas Finance Code ch. 393) and any statutory text the written agreement and disclosure must carry.]

16. 16. Techoclaro PRO for organizations

Techoclaro PRO is for attorneys, law firms, legal aid offices, HUD-approved housing counselors, nonprofits and clinics that help many homeowners. PRO accounts belong to an organization with an owner and members, and they are sold as monthly packages (currently from $199.99 to $1,999.99 per month).

PRO use is governed by these Terms and the PRO Organization Terms.

If you are a homeowner: an organization can see your case only after you consent, and you can revoke that consent at any time from your account page. When you revoke, the organization and its staff lose access to your case right away. Techoclaro does not supervise the advice a PRO organization gives you, and a PRO organization is not Techoclaro.

Attorneys and other professionals may also use Techoclaro for free like anyone else, one case at a time.

17. 17. Letters we mail for you

For some letters, you can choose to have us print and mail the letter for you instead of mailing it yourself. We use a printing and mailing provider (Lob) and the U.S. Postal Service.

  • You approve every letter. Nothing is mailed until you review the final letter and approve it. The letter is yours: you are responsible for making sure it is true, complete and sent to the right address.
  • You see the price first. We show the price and you confirm it before the letter is sent. Letters are charged at our cost (for example, First Class or Certified Mail), and the charge appears on your ledger only after the letter is mailed.
  • When you are charged. Depending on your Billing page settings, a saved card is charged right after mailing or after the month ends with that month’s other charges. Without a saved card, the charge stays on your ledger as owed and we will ask you before anything is collected.
  • Authorization. By approving a letter, you authorize us and our mail provider to print it, put your name and return address on it as the sender, and mail it to the address you approved, on your behalf.
  • Delivery. We do not control the Postal Service. We cannot promise when or whether a letter is delivered, or how anyone will respond. Tracking and Certified Mail records come from the Postal Service.

Letters Techoclaro sends on its own, such as a notice about our free tools, are never billed to anyone.

18. 18. AI features and their limits

Some features use artificial intelligence (AI) — currently models from Anthropic (Claude) — for example to transcribe and summarize documents you upload, read a credit report, or answer questions about your case. Read our AI Disclosure for details.

  • You will know. When an AI writes something, the Service labels it. When a feature is a fixed script or rule and no AI was used, we say that too.
  • AI can be wrong, and it can sound sure when it is wrong. We design our AI features to point to a law or to a specific page of your own document, but you must still check what it says against the source.
  • Not legal advice. AI output is never legal advice, never a decision about your case, and never a reason to miss a deadline. Dates that matter come from your papers and the law, not from an AI.
  • Your content and the AI provider. To use these features, the text of your documents or questions is sent to the AI provider for processing. For credit reports, we remove your Social Security number and full account numbers from the text before the AI reader sees it. Our Privacy Policy explains how providers may handle this information.

Do not use AI features to create content the Acceptable Use Policy does not allow.

19. 19. Other companies we work with, and outside links

We use trusted service providers to run the Service, including Stripe (payments), Lob (printing and mailing), Anthropic (AI), and providers for email, text messages, hosting and storage. They handle information only to provide their service to us. Our Privacy Policy lists the kinds of providers we use.

The Service links to websites we do not run, such as courts, government agencies, legal aid offices, HUD-approved counselors and AnnualCreditReport.com. We list them to help you, but we are not responsible for their content, their services or their privacy practices.

20. 20. Our content and trademarks

The Service — its software, design, text, guides, explanations, templates, the Techoclaro name and logo — belongs to Techoclaro or our licensors and is protected by law. Laws, regulations and court opinions themselves are public; our selection, summaries and explanations of them are ours.

We give you a personal, limited, non-transferable permission to use the Service under these Terms. You may print, save and share the letters and case files you create for your own case, including with your lawyer, a counselor, a court or the other side. You may not copy, sell or republish our content or software for a business purpose without our written permission.

If you send us ideas or feedback, we may use them without owing you anything. If you believe something on the Service infringes your copyright, write to privacy@techoclaro.com.

21. 21. Disclaimers

We work hard to make the Service accurate, and we show our sources so you can check them. But laws change, courts decide each case on its own facts, and documents can be read wrongly.

To the fullest extent the law allows, the Service is provided “as is” and “as available.” We do not promise that it will be error-free, always available, or right for your situation. We disclaim all implied warranties, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and non-infringement.

You are responsible for your own decisions and for meeting your own deadlines. Do not wait on the Service to act when a deadline is close — contact a lawyer or legal aid right away.

Some states do not allow some of these disclaimers, so some may not apply to you.

22. 22. Limits on our liability

To the fullest extent the law allows:

  • Techoclaro and its owners, employees and agents are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost data or lost opportunities, arising from or related to the Service, even if we were told they were possible.
  • Our total liability for all claims about the Service is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the event that caused the claim, or (b) $100.

These limits do not apply to liability that the law does not allow to be limited, such as liability for our fraud, gross negligence or willful misconduct, and they do not take away any rights you have under consumer protection laws that cannot be waived (including, where it applies, the Texas Deceptive Trade Practices Act or the Credit Repair Organizations Act).

23. 23. Your responsibility for misuse

If someone makes a claim against Techoclaro because you broke these Terms or the law, used the Service to harm someone, or uploaded content you had no right to share, you agree to cover our reasonable losses and costs (including reasonable attorney’s fees) from that claim, to the extent the law allows.

This does not apply to claims caused by our own actions, or to your ordinary use of the Service as these Terms allow.

24. 24. If we have a disagreement

Talk to us first. Most problems can be fixed quickly. Before starting a legal case, please email privacy@techoclaro.com with your name, your account email, what happened and what you want. We will try in good faith to resolve it within 30 days.

Governing law. These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas and applicable U.S. federal law, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. If you are a consumer, this does not take away protections you have under the laws of the state where you live that cannot be waived.

Where cases are heard. Except as stated below, any legal case about the Service or these Terms must be brought in the state courts located in Dallas County, Texas, or the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas, Dallas Division, and you and we agree to those courts’ jurisdiction.

Small claims. Either of us may instead bring an individual claim in a small claims court (in Texas, a justice court) in Dallas County or in the county where you live, if the claim qualifies.

[Attorney to decide: arbitration/class waiver. No arbitration agreement or class-action waiver is included. The owner has not decided to use one, and the credit compliance memo recommends considering not using arbitration for a consumer-first brand.]

25. 25. Closing your account, and suspension

You can stop at any time. Cancel any paid plan first (see section 11), then ask us to close your account at privacy@techoclaro.com. Before you go, download your account export from your account page.

We may suspend or close an account if we reasonably believe you broke these Terms or the Acceptable Use Policy, used the Service for fraud or to harm others, created a risk for other users or for us, or if the law requires it. When we can, and when it is safe and lawful, we will tell you why and give you a chance to fix the problem and to download your information.

If we close the Service or your account for a reason that is not your fault, we will refund any prepaid amount for the time you can no longer use.

Sections of these Terms that by their nature should continue after your account ends — including sections 7 (your content, for records we must keep), 20 to 24, and 28 — continue to apply.

26. 26. Changes to the Service and to these Terms

We improve the Service often, and we may add, change or remove features.

We may update these Terms. The date at the top shows the current version. If a change is important — especially one about prices, billing or your rights — we will tell you by email or in the Service at least 30 days before it takes effect, unless a faster change is required by law or needed to protect people. If you do not agree to a change, you may cancel and stop using the Service before it takes effect. If you keep using the Service after that, the new Terms apply.

A change to these Terms never applies to a disagreement that started before the change.

27. 27. Electronic records and communications (E-SIGN consent)

By creating an account, you agree to receive agreements, disclosures, notices, receipts and other records from us electronically — in the Service, on your Billing and account pages, or by email — instead of on paper. This consent covers every record related to your account and your use of the Service. You also agree that clicking to accept (for example, “I accept”) is your electronic signature and is as binding as a signature on paper.

  • What you need: a device with internet access, a current web browser, an email account you can use, and a way to save or print a PDF or web page.
  • Paper copies: you can ask for a paper copy of any record at no charge by writing to privacy@techoclaro.com or to Techoclaro LLC, 1341 W. Mockingbird Lane, Dallas, TX 75247.
  • Withdrawing consent: you can withdraw your consent to electronic records at any time by writing to us. It is free. Because the Service works online, withdrawing may mean we must close your account or stop a paid feature; we will tell you before we do.
  • Keep your email current: update your email on your account page so you receive our notices.

Account and billing messages (such as sign-in links, receipts and notices about your plan) are part of the Service. Marketing messages are optional; you can unsubscribe at any time, as explained in our Communications Opt-Out page. Text messages are covered by our SMS Terms. Deadline reminders by email or text are sent only when the person receiving them has given consent on that channel.

28. 28. General terms

  • Whole agreement. These Terms and the documents they link to are the whole agreement between you and us about the Service.
  • If part is invalid. If a court finds part of these Terms unenforceable, that part is limited as little as needed, and the rest stays in effect.
  • No waiver. If we do not enforce a part of these Terms right away, we can still enforce it later.
  • Transfer. You may not transfer these Terms to someone else. We may transfer them as part of a merger, sale or reorganization, and we will tell you if that happens.
  • Events outside our control. We are not responsible for delays or failures caused by events we cannot reasonably control, such as outages of internet, mail or payment providers, natural disasters or government action.
  • Language. These Terms are offered in English and Spanish. Both versions are meant to say the same thing. [Attorney to decide: which language controls if the two versions conflict.]
