Cookie & Local Storage Notice

Techoclaro does not use advertising cookies, tracking pixels, social media plugins or third-party analytics. Nothing on our site lets another company follow you across websites.

We use a small number of first-party cookies and browser storage items that make the site work: remembering your language and state, keeping you signed in while your tab is open, and connecting a letter or partner link to your new account. All of them are set by www.techoclaro.com itself.

Because these items are needed for the site to work or only remember choices you made, we do not show a cookie banner. If we ever add optional cookies, we will ask first.

• NEXT_LOCALE — remembers your language (English or Spanish). Lasts until you close the browser, or 1 year if you pick a language with the language switcher.
• tc_state — remembers the US state you chose, so we show the right rules and deadlines. 1 year.
• tc_ref — the 8-character code from a Techoclaro letter's personal link, so your letter can be linked to your account after you sign up. 30 days, and deleted as soon as it is used. It holds a random code, nothing about you.
• tc_ref_banner — the street line and county from that letter, to show a one-time welcome message. 10 minutes.
• tc_pref — the code of a partner whose link you opened (or whose code you typed), when you first did so, and how. Used only to credit that partner if you open a new account. 60 days (the partner program's attribution window), and deleted once used.

• techoclaro.session.token — keeps you signed in while the tab is open. Our server also ends every session after 12 hours. We deliberately do not keep it in longer-lived storage.
• techoclaro.matter.current — which of your cases is open.
• techoclaro.pro.org — for professionals, which organization's workspace is open.
• tc_partner_portal_token — for partners, the access code for the partner portal, moved out of the address bar so it is not left in your history.
• tc_promo_pending — a promo code you entered before signing in, so it can be applied after.

Some tools save your work only in your browser, on this device, so you can use them without an account. This information is not sent to our servers unless you choose to save it to your case. Anyone who uses this device and browser may be able to see it, so clear it on shared computers.

• techoclaro.theme — light, dark or system appearance.
• techoclaro.announcement.cache and techoclaro.announcement.dismissed — the current site announcement (cached for 5 minutes) and whether you closed it.
• techoclaro.assistant.case-map-draft.v1 — a draft case map you started before saving it to a case. May include facts you typed about your situation.
• techoclaro.questions.draft.v1 — your answers in progress to our intake questions.
• techoclaro.preforeclosure.v1 — your pre-foreclosure workspace (notes and checklist).
• tc.insolvency.debts.v1 and tc.insolvency.readiness.v1 — the debts list and readiness answers in the debt-relief tool.
• tc-hearing-… — which items you ticked on a hearing checklist.

Our staff console (under /admin) sets its own sign-in and navigation cookies for Techoclaro staff only. Visitors and customers never receive them.

When you pay or manage billing, you are sent to pages hosted by Stripe, which sets its own cookies for fraud prevention and security under its own privacy policy. Our hosting provider may also process technical data such as your IP address to deliver the site and protect it from attacks. See our Privacy Policy.

You can delete cookies and site data at any time in your browser settings, and you can block cookies. If you block them, the site will still work, but it will not remember your language or state, and a letter or partner link may not connect to your account. Clearing site data also deletes any drafts saved only in your browser.

Signing out removes your session token from the browser.

Because we do not use tracking for advertising, there is nothing to opt out of. We treat a Global Privacy Control signal as a request not to sell or share, which we already do not do.
